This phrase acknowledges that Lena G. Moore lived a life full of accomplishments, a basket of success, both in her own right and also on behalf of others, particularly young people. Her journey on earth being finished now, she departed knowing that many people have their own baskets “near the ground”, but with hopes, efforts, trials, successes and challenges still to experience. She always believed that there is a process by which everyone can get their own personal basket “on the ground”, despite whatever obstacles they encountered along the way.
Lena passed away peacefully on April 6, 2015. She was born in Arkansas City on February 22, 1925, to Jobie and Janie Glover, one of 15 sisters and brothers.
She retired from the North Little Rock School District after teaching the 4th grade for 47 years. Dedicated to education, she earned a Bachelors degree from Philander Smith College in 1948 and earned a Master’s degree from the University of Arkansas in 1958.
Survivors include a sister, Roxella Hudson of Pacoima, CA, two sons, Gregory Moore of North Little Rock and Wayne Moore of West Hartford, CT, granddaughters Jessica Carlotta Moore of North Little Rock, Sacha and Sierra Moore of West Hartford, CT, grandsons Gregory Moore of Phoenix, AZ and Orlando Moore of North Little Rock, and great-grandchildren Chamese Brewer, Quincy Davis, Carroll Ray Jones, and Makensie, Paytin, Averi and Elliott Moore, of North Little Rock.
