Betty-- so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I lost my Mom over thirty years ago, but you never forget the special times and love a mother shows to her children. Be comforted that she is in a better place. Eddie

Park, Millie, & Diane Tate moved 1/2 block from Jimmy, Leoda, Jimmy Lee in November 1947 before Gary Don Tate and Betty Ann Nelson were born. These two families visited each other for about 40 years and their family histories intertwined. Millie & Leoda had "coffee" about 10:00 a.m. after they got their homes cleaned on weekdays. We saw floods going down Lewis Street. We walked up the hill to Sunday School at South Highland Baptist Church. We bought candy at Crooks neighborhood store one block behind the Nelson home and later our groceries from the new Big Safeway just straight down Lewis street from us . We saw Saturday cowboy movies for 10 cents at the Garland Theater 2-1/2 blocks away at the end of Lewis Street. All four of the kids walked to Garland Elementary School about six blocks away from the first through sixth grades, rode the bus to West Side Junior, and eventually graduated from Little Rock Central High School with our parents loving and taking care of us all the way.
We have many marvelous memories of Mrs. Nelson - Leoda - she had a pleasant laugh and smile. She was a wonderful neighbor and friend and very kind person. We will all have a wonderful reunion in Heaven where she is now. Thank God for families and neighbors - "Love Your Neighbor As Yourself"!
