Lillian Vay Wilson Garrett, 99, of Little Rock, went to be with her Lord on July 11, 2021. She was born in Mesa, Watensaw Township, Arkansas, on November 23, 1921, the first of four children born to Earl Vay Wilson and Lois Highfill Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 53 years, Charles D. Garrett, Jr.; sisters Margaret Taylor and Joyce Sue Vickery; and brother Earl Ray Wilson. She is survived by son Charles Louis Gray, Jr., and wife Betty Glass of Houston, Texas; daughters Linda McGaha and husband Michael of Kennesaw, Georgia, Shirley Moore of Booneville, Mississippi, and Debbie McMillen and husband Joe of Collierville, Tennessee; nieces Lyla Bailey of North Little Rock, Yvonne Taylor of Fairfield Bay, Teresa Wilson of Amarillo, TX, and Bobbye Hannah of Little Rock; grandchildren David Garrett, Deborah Koffler, Michael Smith, Jason Greene, Cindy Brigman, Diana Wren, Christopher Moore, Brett McMillen, and Keith McMillen; and 9 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express our love and gratitude to her loving caregivers Carolyn and Willie Burns, who for over 7 years treated our mom as though she were their own. She loved and adored the two of them as much as they loved and adored her.

During World War II, Lillian served on the home front, working as a civilian employee at Lake Charles Army Air Field in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She returned to the Little Rock area in 1958, where she worked as an accountant for many years, most of that time with Broadmoor Builders. She left Broadmoor Builders in the mid-1970’s to work with her husband in his store until he sold it in 1982.

Lillian was very active in her church, Geyer Springs First Baptist, for many decades. She loved gardening and was very active in Gardenia Garden Club, holding various officer positions over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in her memory be made to the charity of your choice.
