OBITUARY
Patrick K Carpenter
March 26, 1949 – June 23, 2019
Patrick K. Carpenter, 70, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away peacefully Sunday, June 23, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 26, 1949 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents Claude and Barbara (McHenry) Carpenter; sisters, Kimberly and Kelly Carpenter; brothers, Mike Duncan, Tim Holiman, and Bill Burrow. He leaves to cherish his memory his adoring wife of 11 years, Joni; loving daughters Mollie Fiegel (Justin), Olivia Carpenter (Allison) both of Little Rock; bonus son Gunther Wilkerson of Little Rock; sister Donna McKinzie of Dumas; grandson Xander Fiegel; granddaughter Charlotte Carpenter; godson Casey Penix; and many nieces, nephews, and friends that he gladly considered family as well. Patrick proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring after 26 years. He was honored to protect the Arkansas Supreme Court Justices as a police officer for the high court. Patrick loved to stay busy and loved people. His retirement was enjoyed serving the families of the Griffin Leggett family of funeral homes and cemeteries. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion. He was a Mason and a Shriner, including a few years as Shrine clown “Patches”. He was a devoted father and would tell anyone that would listen about his children and grandchildren. Patrick was a doting husband and best friend to his wife Joni. He was always up for an adventure and loved to travel, especially to Arkansas Razorback sports events. To say he was a diehard Razorback fan would be an understatement. Whether it was football, basketball, baseball, or golf, he loved his Hogs. Patrick never met a stranger and that is evident by the multitude of friends he leaves behind in all walks of life. If he thought of you as a friend then you were family to him and he greatly loved all of his family. Patrick loved to cook for his family and was right at home in the kitchen. His famous fried chicken and gravy, along with his best ever potato salad will be sorely missed. Patrick loved and served his God, his family, and his country.

My dad and Pat's father were law partners for years. I knew the Carpenters all my kid life, and Pat and I were just a few years apart. We were friends as kids. We hung together when there were law office picnics, and there were just a lot of us younger ones. I have been out of Arkansas for a long time and just decided to see if I could see what was happening with people that I used to know. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I was here in Little Rock and would have come to his memorial, but I just didn't know. I'm sorry to hear of this.

To Joni, Molly and Olivia...I am so sorry for your loss. I worked for a long time with Patrick when I was a Funeral Director for Griffin Leggett. I loved working with him. He always knew how to make me laugh and he knew when humor was needed and appropriate. I always wanted him with me on my services. I thought of him as an equal...as a funeral director. He had a way of making families feel at ease and me too when I needed it. He is such a wonderful man and he knew what to do when working services. He was a good friend and he always talked about his daughters and his grand children. He was very proud of all of you. I will miss him so much and wherever he is...he is being the gentleman he always was. I have missed you Patrick and Heaven shines a little brighter because of your warm smile. All my love... Patrick was such an awesome man! I don’t think I ever saw him without a smile on his face! It never failed, he would walk in my office give me a hug and say something to make me laugh! He was a wonderful employee, but more than that, he was a dear friend! His love of the Razorbacks always made me smile, from his hats and shirts to the accessories on his truck! Pat, I am going to miss you my friend , we will meet again and call the Hogs!

I was sad to learn of Patrick's death Sunday. He was one of my favorite people who always brightened up the room with that great smile. At work, he was dependable and caring with our families, and a pleasure to work with. I was touched when he came to Deanna's visitation in spite of all the health problems he was experiencing. He loved his wife and family and just about everyone else; we'll all miss him, but have fond memories. My prayers go out for Joni, Mollie and all the other family memories. Good bye for now, my friend.

I met Pat Carpenter in Junior High. I’d not seen him for many years until he became a security guard at the Supreme Court where he served faithfully until retirement about three years ago.
When I was practicing law, it was a comfort to see an old friend when walking in to argue a case. Pat would always have a wink and a smile which allayed my nervousness before court.
After I became a judge, I’d see Pat when I’d arrive for conferences and committee meetings at the Justice Building. He’d grin, exclaiming, “Well, look who’s here...!”
I remember the day I came over and a new guy was on the door. He told me Pat retired and at last had time for family and relaxing.
Pat passed away this week.
I’ll miss that smile.
God Bless,
Chip

Joni and family, I am so sorry to hear of Pat's passing. He and I met in 1963 when his dad ran for public office. We kept in touch all through the years. We both ended up working for the state and were able to continue our friendship. I will miss his bushy stash and his bright smile. He was a strong defender of his friends and he had my back a lot of times through the years. Rest in Peace my friend, I will miss you dearly. Jacki

I could never say theses things to my friends (Pat’s family) in person because I get to emotional. I probably worked with Patrick the longest at Griffin Leggett. He always called me “Boss” even when I was no longer his boss. He always treated me with respect and dignity and kindness. Working with him was a pleasure. He never shied away from a task or made a difficult one seem worse. I will miss our friendly chats and joking around with him. He was always reliable and dependable. I loved his love of the Razorbacks and how he was always accessorized with something razorback themed. Being from a military family myself, I also admired him for his own service and his patriotism and the honor he always showed the families we served but especially the military families. We were neighbors for sometime and I will never forget one Christmas he called inviting me to his house to be with his family for food and good times, he knew that my family lived out of town and he wanted to be sure that I knew I had a place to come and celebrate and be with people who cared for me. Rest well dear friend and keep an eye on all of us.
