Paul Brandon Cureton was born March 31, 1975 in Selma, AL. to Thomas and Carolyn Cureton. Paul grew up in Chicago, IL attending Marcus Garvey Elementary School, Percy Julian High School and Southwestern Christian College (Terrell, TX).
At the age of two Paul was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease and was frequently being hospitalized by age five. Despite his illness Paul’s early years were happy, busy and very fulfilling. He participated in various activities including Boy Scouts and was active in church youth programs including travel to church youth conferences.
Paul grew up attending the Sheldon Heights Church of Christ in Chicago, where he attended youth worship (ages 5-12yrs old), he learned to serve in the various areas of worship and service. After hearing the Gospel 1Corinthian 15:1-4, Paul believed it Mark 16:16, repented of his sins Luke 13:3, confessed his faith in Jesus Matthew 10:32-33, and was baptized Acts 2:38.
Paul entered the work force as a clerk with the Chicago Stock Exchange in the early 90’s. He later went on to pursue a career with the Union Pacific Railroad in Chicago, IL and in Little Rock, AR. until his health began to fail.
Despite the constant battle with his illness, Paul maintained a cheerful spirit. Paul had a natural heart for connecting with people. He found joy in making people laugh and had a warm and friendly smile. Most importantly he was a great father to his beloved daughter, Kalyse.
