

Robert Mitchell McCown, age 88 went to be with our Lord on March 28, 2023. He was born on April 16, 1934 and was preceded in death by his parents Rudd Mitchell McCown and Dorothy McDade McCown; his son Brian Mitchell McCown; sister Dorothy McCown Chastain; granddaughter Rachael Stewart; and son-in-law Nathan Hartzell.
A graduate of Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas and the University of Arkansas, which led Robert to a lifetime career as a successful actuary in the Commercial Insurance industry, holding positions in large multi-state companies. One of his proudest outside accomplishments was serving as President of the Lions Club Chapter in Little Rock, Arkansas. Due to his warm and infectious personality, Robert not only achieved much in his life but was admired and beloved by his family, many friends, members of his church and those at Montclair Assisted Living in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Outside of his career, he was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan, a weightlifter earning the title of Mr. Arkansas; an avid golfer earning several tournament trophies, attributed to his devotion to perfecting his skills on the golf course with clients and friends.
He is survived by son Steven McCown (wife Joyce and granddaughters Candice and Chelsea (Eric); two daughters, Sheila Hartzell (grandsons Adam, Ethan (Charlotte), Evan (Susanna) and Alex, granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emily); and daughter Elise Hawks (husband Robert and grandsons Jacob (Micayla) and Griffin; daughter -in-law Sonya McCown, granddaughters Michelle Eddins (Cody), Jennifer McCown; sister Betty Hill (Jimmy), brother Dick McCown (Sharon); along with cousins and great-grandchildren. Also survived by former spouse Phyllis Hampel McCown.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shreveport, Louisiana.
His family would like to thank Montclair Assisted Living and Chateau Memory Care unit in Shreveport, Louisiana for providing exceptional care for Robert.
He is to be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park, Little Rock, Arkansas on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
