

Mr. Roosevelt Coleman passed away on August 21, 2024, at the age of 88, surrounded by his wife and family. Mr. Coleman was a beloved husband, father and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Roosevelt Coleman was born on in November 3, 1935 in Monticello, Arkansas. His parents relocated to Little Rock, Arkansas when he was 5 years old, where he spent his formative years. He graduated from Dunbar High School in 1953 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954. He served as an airborne radio operator and was honorably discharged in 1959, after 4 years of dedicated service. He served an additional 4 years in Air Force Reserve. He returned to Little Rock and obtained a Bachelor Degree in Education from Arkansas Baptist College. He went on the obtain his Masters Degree from Henderson State University. Mr. Coleman was employed by the Veterans Administration Hospital from 1964 until he retired in 1990 as an administrator in the Personnel Department. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.
In his free time, Roosevelt enjoyed traveling with his wife, and he was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. He was an active member of his community, volunteering for various causes and organizations. He was a dedicated alumnus of Arkansas Baptist College and his Dunbar Reunion Class. He was as avid fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks football and basketball teams, and he loved keeping up with political events. More than anything else, Roosevelt enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Roosevelt was inseparable from his wife of 64 years, Eleanor Coleman.
Roosevelt is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eleanor Coleman , his children, Ellen Scott, Dellen Jones, CaSandra Watson, Derrell (Della) Coleman, and Dexter (Crist) Coleman , and his grandchildren, Kristophier “Pete” Tillman, Anthony Coleman, Donald Watson II, Alyssa Coleman, Ashley Coleman, Adam Coleman, Sydni Jones, and great grandchildren Anthony Jones, and Augusta Jones. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on August 31, 2024, at Christway Missionary Baptist Church, 4324 Potter Street, Little Rock, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Arkansas Baptist College Coleman Endowed Scholarship Fund. To donate call 501-231-7697 to speak with an Alumni representative.
