

Troy William Green, age 79, of Little Rock, went home to live with his Savior on January 9, 2015, while surrounded by his family who loved him very much. He married Paula Crook from Helena Arkansas, in 1959, to whom he was married for 55 years. He is survived by his wife, three children: Paula Covey, Troy Green II, and Tracy Lipton, plus six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, a sister, Jennie Zimmerman, and a large extended family, and many, many friends and loved ones. He was preceded by both parents, and siblings W.C. Green,Thurman Green, Verna Young, Nona Gregg, Martha Rockwell, and Coy Green. Troy was born November 29, 1935 in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Johnny and Dessie Lou Kelley Green. He lived in Little Rock most of his life, graduating from Little Rock Central High School, in 1955. While a student there, he played basketball, baseball, and football, and was a member of "Wilson's Tigers". He was voted by his high school peers as "Most Friendly". Troy then played semi-pro baseball for the Cardinals in Pennsylvania. He attended Colorado State University on a football scholarship. Troy worked for Entergy for 40 years, retiring as Business Manager. He was an active member of Second Baptist Church since 1960, and served as an usher and a greeter, and was chairman of the security team. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church Heritage Club, which is for church members who have been a there for 50 years or more. Through the church he participated in volunteer mission trips to Prague and Poland. He also did volunteer work for the Salvation Army and Stew Pot in Little Rock. During his life he coached Little League baseball teams in Little Rock, served in the U.S. Army, and was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Consistery. He and his wife, Paula, enjoyed traveling, touring 43 countries together. There will be a celebration of Troy's life at Second Baptist Church in downtown Little Rock on Wednesday, January 14, at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church in downtown Little Rock or the building fund for the new athletic facility at Little Rock Central High School.
