She married in 1938 in Hot Springs and moved to Little Rock in 1941. She was a secretary and retired from the Pulaski County Unit of the State Health Department in 1980, at which time she moved to the Ferndale community. She spent 28 enjoyable years there, participating in local activities and having many close friends. She was a member of Highland Methodist Church (now Highland Valley Methodist) for 77 years. A tireless worker in her church, she loved reading, travel, and genealogy and spent many hours and traveled many miles researching family history with her niece Ernestine Reynolds. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with family and her many friends. To her immediate family she was "Granny". Maintaining family ties was very important and she looked forward to any family reunion. A family grave-side service, to be conducted by her nephew Don Bettis and his son Mitch, will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, 17 March, at Bethlehem Cemetery in Joan.

Virginia was a good friend to both of us through the years. She enjoyed visiting our home while she lived in Ferndale and attending EHC club meetings with me. She was always smiling and laughing and so pleasant to be around.
She enjoyed the flowers we gave her from our yard and in later years the cookies we took her to the retirement center. She will be missed.

It was my honor to meet Virginia when we were both members of the American Business Women's Association. She was always my idea of the perfect lady. While I haven't seen or heard from her in several years, I've never forgotten her. My prayers go out to her family because they will miss her earthly presence, but be assured they will always have her sweet heavenly spirit.
