Being a member of Vimy ridge Immanual Baptist Church, she knew that to be “Absent from the body was to be present with the Lord”
She was no doubt reunited with her parents Gus and Melvina Butler, brothers Gus & Hoyt Butler and sister Fern Butler Durham along with the love of her life husband “Buck” Priest and of course her children, Daughter Ginger Harris, sons Tony and Dale Priest along with grandson Danny Priest, granddaughter Kim Priest Herring and she will now get to meet and hold precious great grandbaby Karsyn Michelle Priest. Oh, what a joyous reunion!
Left to celebrate her life and cherish the memories we made are her remaining children, Charles (Sandra) Priest, David (Pam) Priest, Sammy Priest, and daughter Kelli Priest Wyatt.
She sacrificed much to raise seven children, and God never made a better mother.
She was grandma to 17, and great grandma to 28, and great, great grandma to 3
While raising her family was her first priority, She did work outside the home, most notably she worked alongside her best friend Lottie Ward at the state plant board, keeping up with the state’s bee population. She once said that they laughed all day long.
Virginia enjoyed baking and was known for making the best homemade yeast rolls, she marveled at the many shades of her favorite color green, adored yellow roses, purring kitties, fast race horses, spur of the moment trips, and hearing her musician sons play and sing at family get togethers.
Virginia was a wise woman, but she did not often offer words of wisdom, she just simply lived her life as an example to others, by her quiet steadfast faith in God, Living by the golden rule, never being judgmental of others and by always staying true to her down to earth, unpretentious self. A truly gracious Lady.
Her Life was not without it’s challenges, but she was never one to complain, she simply played the hands that life dealt her with acceptance and grace, always trying to reassure us that all was well by giving us her little wave and sweet, sweet smile.
She loved us all and was always eager to know what we were all doing with our lives, she now has a much better vantage point from which to watch over us.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Casey and staff at Hospice house for their support and comfort care.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzhiemers Association, or Butler Cemetery.
