It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our beloved son/brother William Roger Paul who passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the age of 56. William was born July 22, 1966, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was the first child of Roger and Lucille Paul.
From a young age it was evident that he was a unique individual. During his youth, he lived with his parents and sister in several states, settling in Little Rock Arkansas in 1979. William graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1984. After graduation he had a job driving for Enterprise Car Rental. He loved having a job and always worked hard to do his best. He enjoyed talking about all the jobs he had, but it was clear that his favorite was driving for Enterprise.
Unfortunately, William developed some difficult mental and physical health issues in his early adulthood that would affect him his whole life. Despite this, he lived a full and happy life with his family and friends. He loved driving, if anyone was going anywhere, he always wanted to be the driver. He loved fishing, going to baseball games, putting together model cars, and the evening was not complete without a few rounds of the marble game, aggravation.
One notable thing about William that some may not know is that he had a memory like an elephant. He could tell you phone numbers and addresses of about everyone he had ever called or places he had been. If you were looking for dates and details, William could always fill them in.
A large part of William’s life was attending bible study meetings. He loved the Lord and was faithful all his life. The very last Wednesday night meeting he went to with his father, the evening before he passed, he commented how he really enjoyed it. He loved all the fellowship there and always enjoyed when they had company.
And of course, William’s greatest joy was food, any get-together, celebration or shopping trip that ended in a meal, William was ready to go.
William was often misunderstood, but those who took time to know him understood that he was a kind soul with a big heart who just wanted to be included. William loved to talk on the phone and had a small circle of friends who he talked to regularly. Every answered phone call meant more to William than any of us could imagine.
William was preceded in death by his mother Lucille Paul. He was survived by his father Roger Paul, his sister Julie Trapp, nephews, Cody Paul and wife Destiny, Casey Paul and wife Julie, niece, Jamie Pace and husband Josh, and nephew Chet Paul. William also had several great nephews and nieces. As well as many cousins.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.griffinleggetthealeyroth.com for the Paul family.
