Alex “Strass” Marc Strassman, beloved son, brother, grandson and friend passed away suddenly on October 4. Alex was a passionate student of the world who possessed a heart of gold and a smile to match. His natural curiosity about life, and love for new adventures, connected him with a diverse circle of friends far and wide who will remember him for his engaging personality and enjoyable sense of humor.
He was an avid sports enthusiast who delighted his family as the left footed kicker, commandeering the soccer fields for his Montville home teams and cheering on the NY Yankees and NY Giants with dad and brothers. Alex was a soulful and accomplished music aficionado and graduated from Full Sail University with a bachelor’s degree in entertainment business. He was a devout concertgoer who had a great appreciation for artists of all genres and also found pleasure in writing and playing original music.
As a person who devoted many years working diligently in and around the recovery community, Alex was a friend to countless young people who found themselves immersed in the day-to-day struggles that are reflected in our headlines. He had an innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
The family recently celebrated Alex’s highly anticipated return home to New Jersey where we reveled in the opportunity to bask in his sunshine. His list of aspirations was never ending. He remained energized in the pursuit of his dreams. This is how we shall always remember him.
Alex is survived by his parents, Carol and Wayne, his stepparents, Christine and Darin, and his brothers, Devin and Gabe along with his loving grandparents, extended family and treasured friends.
