Born February 12, 1941 in Satriano, Italy, in the province of Catanzaro in the Calabria region of southern Italy to Domenico Iannonne and Maria Caterina Froio. At age 14 Anthony immigrated to Philadelphia with his father Domenico and Sister Theresa. He then lived in Belleville and Newark before settling in Livingston in 1976.
He was an Army veteran and served in Germany during the Vietnam War. He began working as a mechanic for Hoffman Chevrolet before getting a job with the carpenters union as a specialized welder.
Anthony worked as a Millwright welder for Newark Airport, Ballantine Brewery, and Hoffman LaRoche, to name a few. He finished his career with the Housing Authority before retiring.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #3533 and the American Legion Post #0201, both in Livingston.
He was a loving, caring and respectful man who was beloved by his family and friends.
My Dad was always there for me, steered me in the right direction, whether it had to do with family, work, or fixing something in the house. He showed me how to love and respect my wife and kids and to be the person I am today. I love you and will miss you forever.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maria Caterina (Froio) and Domenico Iannone, and his siblings Francesco Iannone, Domenico Iannone, and Rosa Procopio.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Marie (Panzariello) Iannone, his son Dominick Iannone and wife Judy, grandsons Matthew and Daniel, a sister Theresa DiPaolo, a brother Joseph Iannone, He also is survived by his brother-in-law Anthony Panzariello and Giacomo Pazariello, sister-in-laws Grace DeVivo, Carmela, and Maurina Panzariello as well as beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 4 to 8 pm at the LaMonica Memorial Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave. in Livingston, NJ. Due to Covid-19 limitations, visitors are asked to pay their respects briefly in an effort to avoid overcrowding. Visitors are also required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
The funeral will commence at the funeral home on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Philomena Church in Livingston at 10 a.m. and interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in East Hanover.
