When posed with the question, “What person, dead or alive, would you invite to dinner?”, the answer has always been, and still is, Bobbi Bierman—but only if she’s cooking.
She died too young (September 6, 2022). She died unexpectedly. She was a local celebrity in the broadest sense, a woman of strength and sass with the biggest heart. Bobbi was the most incredible wife to her late Monroe, a dedicated mother to her three kids, Amie, Heidi and David, and the best nana and GG to her gaggle of eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Bobbi’s love language was acts of service. With the kitchen as her stage, she showered those she cherished most with the most scrumptious treats be it her mouthwatering banana bread, famous applesauce, decadent ossobuco or noodle kugel, a high holiday favorite amongst her family. There were few things that made Bobbi as happy as she was in the kitchen. When she wasn’t filling others’ plates, she was filling up her cup of life—and repeatedly replenishing the whipped cream atop her morning coffee.
An avid golfer, Canasta enthusiast, philanthropist and especially involved mother and grandmother, Bobbi never missed a beat. Even at the ripe age of 86 years old, she was a force on the golf course and in life—would you believe she got a hole in one just a few weeks ago? Bobbi was a dedicated member of the National Council for Jewish Women and known to unabashedly stand up for those in need— be it family, friends, or complete strangers (who would of course become friends because that’s…Bobbi).
A loquacious phone conversationist, she relished daily calls with her children, grandchildren and friends. Always a “hey kid,” some quick wit and a parting word of advice. Bobbi was chic from head to toe and owned a style all her own.
In Bobbi’s memory, gifts or tributes can be made to the Linda and Rudy Slucker NCJW/Essex Center for Women: NCJW/Essex, 70 South Orange Avenue, Suite 120, Livingston, NJ 07039; or call (973) 740-0588; or visit www.ncjwessex.org/donate/ and click the Center for Women button.
A private graveside service for Barbara will be held Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at B'Nai Jeshurun Cemetery, 1351 Lower Road, Hillside, NJ 07208.
A celebration of Bobbi's life will take place at TBJ on Sunday, September 11th, between 2-6pm.
