
Born on March 21,1921 in Forest City PA, Bette Krasno Tepper graduated from Drexel University and began her retailing career at Ohrbach's Department Store where she met her husband of 67 years, Jack Tepper. Bette left Ohrbach's to become coat buyer at Bloomingdales, then married. After starting a family, Mrs Tepper returned to the fashion world via academia, teaching merchandising at LIM and later becoming a Professor at FIT, where she continued teaching for close to 50 years. In 1975 she authored Mathematics for Retail Buying which continues to be the seminal textbook for retailing math and is now in its 9th edition. Bette Tepper is survived by her children Rebecca (Hank) Citron and Dr Howard Tepper, her grandchildren Adam (Tali) and Debra Tantleff and great grandchildren Alexandra, Ariel and Eli.
A funeral service for Bette will be held Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, New Jersey 07039. Following the funeral service will be a burial at 1:30 PM at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, New York 11704.
