

Betty R. Press of West Orange, N.J. passed away October 8, 2014. She was the adored and loving wife for over 63 years of Irving D. Press, who died in 2007.
Born in Newark, N.J., she was the loving daughter of the late Jack and Celia Rudbart (née Levine), and sister of the late Erwin "Sonny" Rudbart.
After graduating high school in Newark, N.J. and attending Rider College, Betty worked during WWII for the U.S. War Department's Office of Dependency Benefits and married the love of her life during those war years. Together they moved to Union, N.J. after the war before settling in West Orange, N.J. for 60 years. There Betty became active in Women's American ORT, was a member of B'nai Shalom Jewish Center of West Orange for over 50 years, and raised two children.
To Betty, her family came first and foremost, and this devotion was lovingly returned until her last day.
Her incredible nurturing character, spirit, and inspiration were passed to her children, Dr. Shelley Press-Sampson and her husband, Dr. Steven P. Sampson, of Stony Brook, N.Y.; and Michael R. Press, Esq. and his wife, Susan V., of Morristown, N.J.; as well as her cherished and adored grandchildren, David P. Sampson and Dr. Venkatesh Raghavan of Sunnyvale, CA; Robert D. Sampson of Richmond, VA; Jonathan D. Press of Morristown, N.J.; and Jennifer L. Press of Washington, D.C.
