Brenda Slaff

Born to Samuel and Sadie (née Bierman) Lebkes in Paterson, NJ, on January 25, 1938, she was a long-time resident of Pompton Lakes, NJ. After graduating from high school in 1955, she married her beloved husband Alin, and they shared 63 wonderful years together. During that time, in addition to being the Office Manager at Savon Pharmacy, Inc., she, along with her husband Alin, owned and operated Pequannock Limo, the premier limousine company in Northern NJ. She was also a charter member of the Lakeland chapter of Women’s American Organization for Rehabilitation through Training (ORT) and a past President of ORT. She was an Advisory Board Member of Lakeland State Bank (now Provident Bank) and was an active member of Passaic County Young Couples Club. She was also a lifelong Mah-Jong player, reaching competition level and operating as an instructor for many years.

Beyond her professional life, Brenda’s true purpose was her family and her home. She was the matriarch of the Slaff family, rooted in tradition and her unwavering Jewish faith. Brenda was known for her deep, unconditional love of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughters. She found the most joy in spending time with them, telling stories, and giving never-ending hugs and kisses.

She is survived by her daughter Suzanne Rubino and husband Ralph of Budd Lake, NJ; son Gregg and wife Nancy of Pequannock, NJ; grandchildren Lindsay Terzian and husband Alex of Livingston, NJ; Allison Kowalczyk and husband Jay of Wharton, NJ; Gary Slaff and fiancée Sarah Benjamin of San Diego, CA; Andrew Slaff and wife Cassandra of Woodbine, MD; great-granddaughters Elisa Rose Terzian and Ani Vivienne Terzian; sister Mitzi Friedman of Phoenix, AZ; and brother Donald Lebkes and wife Susan of Durham, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband Alin Slaff in 2019.

A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07039. A luncheon will be held there immediately after the service.
