Burt was Deputy Commissioner of the Human Resources Administration of the City of New York; he loved his family and profession. He approached his responsibilities with humility, generosity and sensitivity. Burt, a City College graduate and Army veteran, was one of the longest serving New York City civil servants of almost 50 years. He rose through the ranks of the HRA until he was appointed Deputy Commissioner. Burt was always known as the “Can do” person with tremendous subject matter expertise and mentored many present and past staff members. Burt was often a sought after guest speaker for numerous agency affairs and events.
He will be missed by his past and present employees as well as his family; Brother Walter, nieces Jill, Gigi , Jan and Hanna including nephews David, Scott, Brad, Anthony ,Bill, Spruille as well as grandnieces Jamie, Emma and grandnephews Casey, Cory, Bryan, Evan, Ethan and Jordan.
