Catherine Cuomo

Catherine Cuomo "Mommy", 97, of Jupiter, Florida passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Catherine was born on May 12, 1926 in Newark, New Jersey; the daughter of the late Nicola and Madeline Caporaso.

Catherine graduated from Barringer High School in Newark, NJ. She married Bernard Cuomo on January 25, 1947 and together they shared 64 years of marriage.

She enjoyed playing golf and at one point got a hole in one. She also loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas and she was an avid bingo player. Catherine’s greatest achievement in life was being a mother and wife. Cathy and Bobby will always remember her as “The World’s Best Mommy”.

She is predeceased by her siblings, Gay Caporaso, Marion Nardiello, Louis Caporaso, Pat Caporaso, Joseph Caporaso, Tony Caporaso, Michael Caporaso, and Alfred Caporaso. She is survived by a daughter, Cathy Cuomo-Cecere and her son-in-law, Robert Cecere, whom Catherine always thought of as a son.

A funeral Mass for Catherine will be held on Saturday, October 21st, 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, 243 Abington Avenue, Newark, NJ 07107. Following the Mass, a committal service will be held at Holy Cross Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Road, N. Arlington, NJ 07031.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine's name may be made to St. Francis Xavier Church, 243 Abington Avenue, Newark, NJ 07107.
