Our thoughts and prayers are with D’Aries & Hooey families, we weep with you. I grew up with Cheryl in West Orange and we became good friends when Cheryl spearheaded (with Rose Ruglio) the first twirling squad for Lincoln Junior High School (talked the gym teacher into sponsoring us) and Cheryl said that we could twirl if we made our own outfits (she arranged with the sewing teacher)...so that is what we did! She was a great leader and such an outgoing, self-driven & fun spirited friend and quickly made other friends wherever we went. Whether we went to the Essex Green shopping plaza, the movies, down the hill, ice skating at South Mountain Arena/Stagg field, the “Bruce Springsteen” and “Yes” concerts (when she talked a substitute teacher and his girlfriend into taking us)....or her house on Mt. Pleasant Avenue (along with dozens of other kids she invited) she always had so many creative & fun ideas and made all of the arrangements.... and I got to thoroughly enjoy the fruits of her labor! I have so many fond memories of her as she was a special friend and her beautiful memory will forever be embedded in my heart. I take comfort knowing she is with our Lord & Savior Jesus now.
