Cywa Wajner died peacefully at the age of 101 on November 23, 2020. Cywa was born in Russia in 1919 and survived World War II under Nazi occupation. She lost her parents, and other family members during the war; but persevered to ultimately marry, have two children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
In the 1950s, she emigrated from Russia to Poland with her husband, and ten years later, once again uprooted her family and moved to the United States in 1969, at the age of 50. She did these things all for the benefit of her children, so that they could grow up in a country that offered them religious freedom and better opportunities.
During her working years in Europe, she was an educator at the university level. She gave up that career when she arrived in the United States, and accepted a job as a clerk to help support her family. Her husband predeceased her by 28 years.
She was loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Her diminutive size made those around her go out of their way to help and care for her. She will be greatly missed by her family and they are grateful for having her in their lives for so many years.
She will be laid to rest in a private gravesite service surrounded by those who were closest to her.
