
Dan Nathan was born on November 12, 1947 in Israel. He moved to Washington Heights, New York at 10 years old. Dan and his wife, Gaye, raised their daughters in Randolph, New Jersey before moving to Somerset, New Jersey in retirement.
Dan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gaye Nathan, two daughters, Jill Brahms and Jodi Yoser, son in laws, Daniel Brahms and Jonathan Yoser, four grandchildren, Emily Brahms, Alexa Yoser, Andrew Yoser and Matthew Brahms and sister, Nili Arbel.
A very smart and precocious young boy, Dan came to the United States speaking no English and qualified for the prestigious Bronx High School of Science just a few years later.
He worked at Picatinny Arsenal where he had the respect of all his peers. He was responsible for many important projects, still in use today, including the engineering of the Patriot Missile. He was committed to community service and was very involved in the Homeless Coalition at Temple Shalom among other charitable causes. Dan loved spending time with his family and friends, taking long walks (usually followed by big meals), Porsches, watching the stock market, classic comedies, and guitar music.
Dan was a strong, sensitive, gentle and caring man. To know him was to love him. He passed surrounded by his loving family.
The family will be receiving guests at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, located at 68 Old Short Hills Rd, Livingston, New Jersey, 07039, on January 12, 2026, from 8:15 am to 8:45 am.
A funeral service will follow at the same location, starting at 9:00 am on January 12, 2026.
Burial will take place at Wellwood Cemetery, located at 1500 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, New York, 11704, on January 12, 2026.
