

Born and raised in Newark, he was the son of Clara (Faiges) and Julius Green. Dan lived most of his life in Union, raising his children, Jodi and Michael, with his loving wife, Arlene (nee Wolff).
He graduated from Weequahic High School in 1950 and Rutgers University in 1954. Dan served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force for 2 years. He worked as an electrical engineer for ITT Defense Communications in Nutley for 37 years. An avid skier, Dan spent many happy years weekending with lifetime friends at his vacation home in Vermont. When he retired from ITT, he started volunteering with the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills (VNA) at their twice-yearly rummage sale, eventually becoming the head of the Computers Department. Dan was as committed to rummage as he was to his former career and spent 26 years as a highly dedicated volunteer.
Dan was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Arlene. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Jodi and her fiancé Robbie Lefkowitz, his loving son, Michael and his wife Rochelle, along with his 3 beloved grandchildren, Benjamin, Mikayla and Caleb. He leaves behind his sister Rosalie Gottfried, nieces and nephews and many close friends that were like family to him.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 22 at 11:00am EDT at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Funeral Home, located at 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ, (973) 422-0600. Burial will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ. Shiva will be held at the home of Michael and Rochelle Green. Please contact Bernheim Apter Kreitzman for the address.
