

Doris Goldman passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28th. Doris was born on May 5th 1922 to Fanny and Meyer Kasofsky. She grew up in Irvington, and later lived in Newark with her in-laws, then moved to Maplewood, next to Livingston and finally to Verona.
Dorrie was one of a handful of women to graduate from the Rutgers College of Pharmacy in 1942. It was at Pharmacy College that she met the love of her life, fellow student, Sidney Goldman who she called on to pith her frog during class. They had a war-time wedding in 1944. She worked side by side with Sid in their landmark drug store, Orange Drugs. After the store was sold, Dorrie helped Sid build PIC Corporation, an insecticide company.
Dorrie will be remembered for her natural elegance and sensitivity, as well as her kindness and generosity to so many. She was a mild-mannered person whose family was most dear to her. She evolved from being the baby of her family to a respected, admired matriarch. Dorrie was predeceased by her beloved sister Libby Wolff, her dear brother Lou Kaye and her cherished husband, Sid. She is survived by her treasured daughters, Lois (Frank) Dyer, and Phyllis (Allen) Rubel and adored grandchildren, Abigail, Lisbeth, Lisa, Eric and Beth and 6 great grandchildren.
The family is grateful for the loving care she received from her devoted caretakers and the very thoughtful staff of the Claridge.
Private graveside family services will be held. Shiva will be at the Dyer home on Wednesday afternoon from 3 - 5, evening from 7 - 9 p with a minion at 7:30, and Thursday from 1 - 4 , and 7 - 9 with a minion at 7:30. Donations in Doris’s name can be made to the American Heart Association or any charity of your choice.
