He was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. His father passed before he was born, and he was lovingly raised by his mother, Betty Finegold, with the help of his aunts and uncles. Edward pursued higher education at New York University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Master of Science in Chemistry. He enjoyed a fulfilling career as a biochemist/immunochemist manager, project manager, and troubleshooter.
Edward was married to Barbara Kaplan Newman for over 48 years. He is also survived by his nephews, great nephews, a great niece, cousins, and friends. Ed was a longtime member of B'nai Shalom of West Orange. A lover of Superman, he earned the nickname SuperEd.
Even in his later years with Lewy Body Dementia, Edward was known for his intelligence, kindness, caring nature, humor, and his quickness to show appreciation. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Arden Courts of West Orange and Serenity Hospice for their compassionate care.
Edward's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his community, and his professional endeavors. He will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.
