Eleanor K. Breslow

Eleanor Klein Breslow, 99, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on March 11, 2024. She was born in Passaic to Jack and Sarah Klein. El was married to the love of her life, Howard Breslow, for over 65 wonderful years. He was her biggest fan.

Together they opened successful paint, wallpaper and decorating stores in Bloomfield, Wayne, and Caldwell. As a true decorator/designer, Eleanor’s creativity was clearly evident. She took great pride in every project, and thoroughly enjoyed helping each and every customer.

Throughout her life, El was an avid tennis player and played a mean game of bridge up until days before her passing.

As an accomplished artist, sculptor and painter, she was a true renaissance woman who often gained her inspiration from the theatre and the arts. Always a passionate reader and talented wordsmith, no one told a better story. She had a zest for life!

As a woman ahead of her time, she was facile with changing technology, often face-timing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her family was her greatest joy, able to relate to multiple generations. Her charismatic personality was shared with her family and numerous friends for just short of 100 years.

She is survived by her children: Roy Breslow, (Debbie Streit), Lynn Levy (Jeffrey Levy), Clifford Breslow (Elaine Breslow) & her grandchildren: Adam Levy (Beth Levy), Tara Testa (Fred Testa), Brooke Rosenthal (Ben Rosenthal), Casey Glugeth (Jared Glugeth), Austin Breslow (Kara Lewis), Logan Clark (Evan Clark) & her 10 great grandchildren: Asher, Luke, Lily, Skylar, Parker, Izzy, Lex, Nellie, Hunter & Sonny.

Services will be held at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Funeral Chapel located at 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ on Thursday March 14th at 11am. A private interment will follow. Shiva will be held at the Crown View Manor at 10 Smith Manor Blvd, West Orange on Thursday, March 14 from 3pm-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
