Born in Paterson, NJ to Rena and Heyman Zimel, Ellie attended Syracuse University and was a graduate of Paterson State College (now William Paterson University). She was an English teacher and class advisor at Eastside High School in Paterson for many years. Upon her retirement from teaching, Ellie was an Assistant Vice President at Chemical Bank (now Chase) for five years where she met her beloved and devoted husband Bob of 42 years.
Together, Ellie and Bob owned The Miller Gallery in Soho, New York for fifteen years.
Ellie was a member of the Community Advocates of St. Barnabas Medical Center, as well as a member of the Women’s Club of Franklin Lakes.
In addition to her husband, Ellie is survived by her sister Deborah Margolis of Longboat Key, FL, her sister-in-law Dolores Bechtel of New City, NY, her nephews Andrew Samwick of San Francisco, CA and Evan Michaels of Nokomis, FL, and her great-nephew Lucas Michaels.
