Fred A. Horowitz

Fred was raised in Bayside, Queens and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in mechanical and chemical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. Fred had a long and distinguished career at Exxon Research and Engineering until his retirement in 2001.

Fred was the beloved husband of Roberta for 61 years and the loving father to Jill Bogaty (Stuart) and Mark Horowitz (Jennifer Koen). He was the devoted and cherished grandfather to Taylor Papkin (Scott), Jordan Bogaty, Camryn Bogaty, Jake Horowitz, Jedd Horowitz and Jesse Horowitz. He was the devoted brother to Linda Lipsius and his brother-in-law Bruce Lipsius.

Fred was a brilliant man, crafty tennis player, avid reader, curious intellectual and incredibly devoted husband, father and grandfather. Most importantly he was one of the most humble, kind and sincere people you will ever meet.

A Funeral Service will be held at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07039 on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 11am . The family will be receiving guests from 10:15am to 10:45am. The burial will follow at B'Nai Abraham Memorial Park, 2600 Route 22 East, Union, NJ 07083.
