Helen Boarmen was a 2nd or third cousin .To be sure, I am not sure of the exact relation. One year, many years ago, she called me up. Although at the time of the call, I dadn’t know who she was, she convinced me of her connection to the family. She knew all my aunts and uncles, my mother and my father including intimate details. So that from time on we spoke about once or twice a year for over an hour on her phone 973 736 5586. I dialed that number a few minutes ago and sadly saw that it was disconnected.
I will miss her and our conversations with all my heart. I am sure Helen, we will meet again in another world.

It’s hard to believe that a 22-year friendship developed between Helen and me from a chance encounter on a return flight from Paris. 

She was a great lady and will truly be missed — especially on her birthday this Dec. 24.

Helen Rappel Bordman loving wife and mother passed away peacefully at her home. She is survived by her children Marc and Aileen, and was preceded in death by her adoring husband Sanford.

Dame Helen Rappel Bordman, was Knighted by the French Government, initiated by a letter of recommendation from Meryl Streep.
Under the aegis of the Versailles Foundation and its president Florence Van der Kemp, this Francophile helped, from the beginning of the 1980s, to collect funds to restore the domain of the painter. Ginger Rogers, Gregory Peck, Kirk Douglas, Audrey Hepburn, Pierce Brosnan, Meryl Streep, and Presidents and dignitaries would enjoy tea with the Grand Dame.
Helen founded the volunteer program which offers foreign interns the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of the Monet Foundation. Her devotion, for almost forty years, to Giverny has never wavered.

Helen was a second mother to me.  She looked like physically like my mother.  I remember when she used to come to my parent's flat in Paris when I was a little girl. I was so shy that I did not reply to her when she was speaking to me but I understood all her english.  I went to visit her in Giverny every spring. One of my best souvenir is when I organized a meeting with my father, my brother, Carla, Axel, Ilan, Florence and of course Helen, we went all in a pizzeria in Vernon. It was such a good day! Was missing only my mother...
My mother was waiting for her and now, they both are reunited for the eternity... I am missing them a lot...
