Helen was born in Washington, DC, the daughter of Ida and Henry Becker. She graduated from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) with a degree in biology. In 1949, she married Herbert M. Decker and they lived in Frederick, Maryland and later in Ellicott City, Maryland. Helen enjoyed teaching schoolchildren.
In retirement, Helen and Herb lived in Connecticut and New Jersey. They enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and traveling, especially on family cruises. They were happily married for 54 years.
Helen is survived by her devoted daughter Joanne and her husband Michael, loving granddaughters Melissa (Brian) and Andrea (Sean), and four adored great-grandchildren, Miles, Owen, Nico and Ava. We will miss and love her forever.
The funeral will be held at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel located at 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ on August 13, 2025 at 9:00 AM.
