Helen was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She lived in Roslin Estates, NY from 1967 to 2002, then moved to New Rochelle for ten years before settling in West Orange, NJ. She was the beloved wife of the late Theodore Geffner. Helen is survived by her daughter, Judith A. Osband Schanzer, and her husband, Dr. Bernard Schanzer, and her son, Daniel Geffner, and his wife, Susan Shapiro. She was the proud grandmother of nine, great-grandmother of twenty-nine, and great-great-grandmother of eight.
Helen was actively involved in her community as a long-time member of Congregation B'nai Shalom of West Orange, NJ. Her dedication to her faith and community was evident throughout her life.
Funeral services will be held at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, located at 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ, on February 15, 2026, at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Rd, Elmont, NY.
