Henry Bovin 97, of Morristown, N.J. died on September 10, of complications from a fall. He was born on May 20, 1921 into a world of wealth and privilege, which soon disappeared as a result of the economic conditions following the stock market crash of 1929.
With determination, character and integrity, he went on to earn Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in mechanical engineering from NYU, become an officer in the U.S. Army, land on Utah Beach in Normandy, and after surviving WWII, held a series of engineering and executive positions with several leading U.S. companies including Fairchild Camera and Instrument, and CBS among others. Henry was a Patriot, a devoted husband, a supportive and proud parent and grandparent who could most often be found making or fixing some device or working on his extensive stamp collection.
He was married for 68 years to his high school sweetheart, Ruth Klein Bovin, who predeceased him in 2011. He is survived by his two sons, Denis and Randy, his daughters in law, Terry and Barbara, grandchildren Michelle and her husband, Chris; Amy, Michael, and great granddaughter, Ava. His grandson, Andy, passed away in 1986. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be terribly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30PM Thursday at the Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ. Interment will be in B’nai Abraham Memorial Park, Union, NJ.
