Herbert P. Manasse
April 30, 1931 – September 14, 2020
Herbert (Herb) Manasse, 89, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020. He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Sam and Minnie Manasse, on April 30, 1931.
Herb was the beloved husband of Heather (2009); father to Mitchell Manasse (Gail), Robin Peters (Bert) and Barry Manasse (Robert). He was a loving Zayde to Noah (Gemma), Andrew, Stephen and Marc and great grandfather to Brooks. He is also survived by his sister Muriel Scher, (Sheldon). He was a loyal friend to many.
Herb achieved the rank of Corporal in the U.S. Army. After his military service he owned and operated a number of businesses in the food service industry. He was a master butcher before there was such a thing as “artisan.”
Simply put, Herb was a true gentleman. He always had a smile and a story. Herb was an avid sports enthusiast, never missing a New York Giants game and loved the Brooklyn Dodgers and his local Florida Marlins. He shared his love for jazz music and the big bands with all who know him. And he knew his way around the kitchen.
He taught us all how to properly grill a steak and slice a brisket.
Herb will be greatly missed by family in the US and Canada as well countless friends.
The family kindly suggests contributions be made in Herbert’s name to the American Heart Association or Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
