
Herbert L. Zuckerman, 88, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 24th, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Maplewood, NJ, and he graduated from Columbia High School, Lehigh University, and Rutgers University School of Law.
Mr. Zuckerman was admitted to the bar of New Jersey in 1957 and the bar of New York in 1982. Mr. Zuckerman opened his own law firm and practiced in Newark for many years. In 1981 Mr. Zuckerman became a named partner in Sills, Beck, Cummis, Zuckerman, Radin & Tischman, where he specialized in tax law from 1981 to 1998, when he retired. He was one of a handful of attorneys who was certified as a civil and criminal trial attorney.
Mr. Zuckerman was a member of Orange Lawn Tennis Club, where he loved to play tennis. He was active in many civic and charitable organizations.
Mr. Zuckerman is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Janet, his three children, Julie, Elizabeth, and William, and seven granddaughters, Madison, Jordan, and Cameron Provorny, Dylan and Sascha Zuckerman, and Daisy and Ella Zuckerman. Mr. Zuckerman was predeceased by his parents, David and Adele Zuckerman, his brother Arthur, and his sister Honi Weiss.
A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Friday at the Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07039.
