Howard Kotel was born in 1935 in Brooklyn and grew up on the Lower East Side of New York City. He graduated from Seward Park High School. He attended night school in New York City. Having served in the United States Army at Fort Hood, Texas he was honorably discharged in 1962 with the rank of Corporal Specialist.
Howard married Barbara Jaffe in 1961 and was a salesman for Titan Textiles in Paterson, NJ, for over 30 years. He lived most of his adult life in Livingston, NJ, most recently, moving to Florham Park, NJ.
He enjoyed movies, wrist watches, bagels and lox, WWII history, Jewish theology, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Kotel is survived by his wife, Barbara, his son Ira (and his wife, Amy), his daughter Helene Weiman (and her husband, Jon), his granddaughters, Ava Kotel and Hani and Jessie Weiman, and his siblings, Irwin and Sylvia Kotel.
