Ira Nemeroff, aged 91, passed away on July 9, 2024, in Morristown, New Jersey. Born on January 10, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, Ira was a dedicated and loving husband, brother, bonus father, and grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy filled with love, creativity, and achievement.
Ira is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie Franzel; sister, Joan Bart; children, Erika Wynzel and Ted Punskovsky, Ethan and Sarah Franzel, and Jordan Franzel; and grandchildren, Emma Franzel-Johnson and Aidan Johnson, Mira Franzel, Isaac Wynzel, Talia Wynzel, Jason Punskovsky, and Dana Punskovsky.
An alumnus of Stuyvesant High School, Ira graduated from Syracuse University, and furthered his education at New York University, and Fairleigh Dickinson University. His precision and attention to detail enhanced his long career as an electrical engineer. Ira was also an award-winning photographer, a passion that captured beautiful moments and landscapes from his travels around the world. Ira reached the Grand Master status in the Photography Society of America.
Beyond his professional and artistic pursuits, Ira was an avid traveler and theater enthusiast, which allowed him to explore diverse cultures and artistic expressions.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries, the Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ.
Contributions can be made in Ira’s memory to Temple Beth Am, Parsippany, and the Atlantic Health System Foundation for Morristown Medical Center. Ira's spirit and legacy will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
