

Jacqueline Berke, 94, of Madison, died at Home. Funeral Services are today, Thursday; at 12:30pm in the Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Rd. Livingston, with interment in the Riverside Cemetery, Rochelle Park. Born and raised in New York, NY; lived in Orange, and Millburn, before moving to Madison, NJ. A graduate of George Washington High school, NYC; received her Bachelors degree from New York University, A Masters degree in Journalism from Columbia University, and a Masters degree from Rutgers University in English. A Professor of English at Drew University from 1960 to 1992, and as Emeritus for many years. She Co- founded the Holocaust Center at Drew University. She was the author of a popular text book, Twenty Questions for the Writer. Mrs. Berke was the widow of the late Philip A. Berke, She lives her daughter Laura Berke and her husband Frank Murphy; a son, Matthew Berke and his wife, Edie; grandchildren, Katie Brumberger and her husband, Brett, and Annie Berke, and her husband, Joshua Alvizu, and great grandchildren, Emma Brumberger, and Colin Brumberger.
