Despite her threats, she’d never actually punch you in the face. It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Jean Kono. Born some time between 1934 and 1936 (depending on who you ask), she was a mother, a wife, a nurse, a role model and an all-around wonderful person. Born in Trenton, NJ to Rena and Charles Mooney, she was an A student that earned a scholarship to attend University of Pennsylvania’s Nursing School. After attaining her degree, she worked as an Oncology Nurse at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital until leaving nursing to start a family with her husband Carl Kono. Together they raised a family, started a successful business and enjoyed a marriage filled with love, humor and friendship until his passing in 2018. Jean is survived by her two children; Susan Donas and Jacob Kono and his wife Sarah, and her 4 grandchildren; Arianna, Cayla, Dean and Cecelia.
