He was the beloved son of the late Giuseppe Vito and Maria Nicole Chirico of Teora, Italy and Newark, NJ, proud father of Michele and James Caron, Joseph and Ann Marie Chirico, Thomas and Carolyn Chirico, and John and Renee Chirico, dear brother of Annina Hill of Whippany, and cherished grandfather of Marie, Joseph, Michael, Steven, Nina, Thomas, Anthony, and Kevin. He was also the uncle of nieces and nephews whom he adored.
Joe was a graduate of Rutgers University and NJIT, both in Newark, earning degrees in Engineering and Business.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he had a 55 year career as a sales engineer in the bottling industry.
Joe was a long time member and past chapter President of the Bloomfield Unico. He was also a member of the Bloomfield Elks and active parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, also in Bloomfield.
He had a passion for ballroom dancing and vacationing in Florida. He adored his grandchildren and family and found his greatest joy being around them especially during their traditional Sunday dinners.
Joe was appreciated for his great sense of humor, kindness, and generosity. He was a friend to many and will be missed by those who knew him.
The visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, from 2-6 pm at the LaMonica Memorial Home 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue in Livingston. The Funeral Mass will be on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 11 am at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover followed by the entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
