Born in the Bronx, NY, Joey attended Florida State University. He enlisted in the Army and spent some time overseas, stationed in West Berlin, Germany. Joey was an avid and life-long NY Yankees fan with a particular passion for the 1961 world champion team. His number one idol by far was Mickey Mantle. Joey also had a passion for gambling, and always loved visiting the casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. He fantasized running the blackjack tables, and sometimes actually did.
Always the life of the party, everyone who knew Joey has fond memories of his jokes and stories. His laughter, and that of everyone around him will surely be missed. Joey had a tremendous heart and always put everyone ahead of himself. His last few years, he enjoyed traveling to and from his grandson Jake's hockey games. Grandpa was a regular fixture down at the glass.
Joseph is predeceased by his parents, Isidore and Muriel Feldman. He is survived by Mercedes, his wife of 56 years, his three children, Joy Weiss, Diane Camy and her husband Richard, Samuel Diaz and his wife Lisetta, along with 6 cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Alex, Samantha, Lauren, Max and Signe and 2 great-grandsons, Duke and Lorenzo, several nieces and nephews as well as his brother Stephen.
A funeral service for Joseph will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 2:30 PM at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, New Jersey 07039.
