Judy married Mark Lipsky in 1965, and together they built a beautiful life centered on family and friendship that spanned six decades. After starting their married life in Queens, New York, they made Pine Brook, New Jersey, their home for 52 years. As a stay-at-home mother, she raised three children with warmth, wisdom, and an unwavering belief in letting them find their own paths while always having their backs. Her support knew no bounds, and her family absolutely adored her.
With an appreciation for art from childhood, Judy had a keen eye for interior design and fashion. She knew how to make an outfit memorable with the perfect accent piece that added just the right touch of interest, and friends and family remember her as someone who dressed with elegance and style. She brought that same attention to detail and care to just about everything, especially her legendary Thanksgiving feasts, which gathered dozens of family members for celebrations that were awesome in scope, flavor, and love (not to mention carbs).
Judy was a woman who did things on her own timeline. When she did them, she did them right. Growing up in an era when it was uncommon for girls to have a bat mitzvah or for women to pursue higher education, Judy later returned to Hebrew school and participated in an adult bat mitzvah class. She then went on to attend college and graduated from Montclair State University - achievements that filled her family with pride and reflected her lifelong dedication to growth and learning.
Her sharp intellect made her a formidable opponent in any game, and friends knew better than to challenge her to Scrabble. Judy nurtured deep, lasting friendships through her regular mahjong games and was known to all as an excellent friend - kind, loyal, and someone who truly enjoyed life. She also contributed to her community by putting together the library at Pine Brook Jewish Center, leaving a lasting impact on her synagogue.
Above all, Judy will be remembered for her warmth, her class, and the tight-knit, loving family she built. She was a wonderful mother, a loyal and supportive spouse, and a cherished grandmother whose love enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband of many years, Mark Lipsky; her daughter, Laurie Leinwand, and son-in-law, Jason Leinwand; her son, Gary Lipsky; her son, David Lipsky, and daughter-in-law, Julie MacDonald; eight adored grandchildren: Aleza, Noah, and Eitan Leinwand; Arielle and Jadyn Lipsky; and Rachel, Ben, and Emma Lipsky; her sister, Sharon Rothbard, and brother-in-law, Sandy Rothbard; her brother-in-law, Joel Lipsky; and her beloved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Beth Israel Cemetery, located at 1098 Woodbridge Center Dr, Woodbridge Township, NJ, 07095, United States. The service is scheduled for October 17, 2025, starting at 11:00 am.
