Lawrence A. Lubow, MD of Morristown, New Jersey, died on January 5, 2025. Born in Newark, New Jersey on June 6, 1935, he was a son of Boris and Bertha Lubow. A graduate of Weequahic High School and Dartmouth College, Phi Beta Kappa, Magnum Cum Laude, Larry received his medical training at New York University School of Medicine and Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx. He served in the United States Air Force for two years, stationed in Austin, Texas.
In 1967, the Lubows moved to Morristown, where Larry opened a practice in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He was the founder of Morristown Cardiology Associates, P.A. which has grown from two physicians in 1974 to 14 physicians at present. In addition to instituting improvements in cardiac care in his community, Larry was instrumental in bringing cardiac surgery to Morristown Memorial Hospital, where he was chief of cardiology from 1972-1974.
A tennis player, skier, and avid gardener, Larry also loved music. As a young man, Larry played clarinet in a jazz band in the Catskills. In his 40’s he took up the piano, and throughout his life he took great pleasure in the music of Cole Porter, George Gershwin and many others from the era of The Great American Songbook. He was often the smartest person in the room (and definitely the best-dressed) yet he was modest and unassuming, always comfortable in his own skin.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Susan (Lowy) Lubow, his daughter, Elizabeth Poston of Bethesda, Maryland, and his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Jessica Lubow of Morristown, NJ. He was also the proud and loving grandfather of Caroline and Katie Lubow and Ava Poston.
The funeral service will be at 11am on Tuesday, January 7th at the Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ. Burial to follow at B'nai Jeshurun Cemetery, 1351 Lower Road, Elizabeth, NJ.
