Manny was a gentle soul. He entertained people with his magic tricks, enjoyed doing balloon modelling for children, and spread words of wisdom through the poetry that he memorised & recited. He was also a devoted son, looking after his elderly parents when they became less able to manage for themselves.
But above all else, Manny wanted to be remembered as a magician. He had been inspired by a friend of the family, Joe Willner, who had been a professional magician & stage hypnotist in prewar Vienna.
Later, while living in England, Manfred continued to learn, practice and improve his skills. He gained the respect and friendship of expert magicians, demonstrating his abilities for their professional scrutiny. Manny’s wish was to be remembered as following in the line of Joe Willner, Bobby Bernard, and the remarkable David Berglas.
But to us, Manny was unique without needing association or comparison with other mystifiers.

The family will receiving guests at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, New Jersey 07039, on September 15, 2026, from 10:15 am to 10:45 am, followed by the funeral service at the same location on September 15, 2026, at 11:00 am.
Burial will take place at King Solomon Memorial Cemetery, 550 Dwasline Road, Clifton, New Jersey 07012, on September 15, 2026, at 12:45 pm.
