A funeral service will take place Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 1 P.M. at Temple Sholom, 760 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, NJ.
Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Marcel immigrated to New York at the age of 19. He enlisted in the Armed Forces, as a paratrooper and interrogator in the 82nd Airborne where he earned a purple heart.
Marcel owned several businesses and founded Lux Homes Inc in 1954 and in 1956 started the franchise for Pella Windows and Doors in Newark.
Marcel was a philanthropist who supported many organizations and was especially devoted to Sdei Chemed a school for children in Israel that was founded by his father.
Marcel was the loving patriarch of his family. Predeceased by his adoring wife Anita, he leaves his daughters, Carol Sidman (David) and Jacki Guber (Rick) in addition to his grandchildren Brian Sidman (Ashley) and Lisa Sidman (Daniel) and 3 great grandchildren (Dylan, Camryn, Sunnery). He led an exemplary life that his family will make every effort to emulate.
