
She graduated from Irvington High School and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Teachers College of New Jersey and a Masters of Arts in education from Montclair State University.
Marilyn began her teaching career in 1973 at Beth El pre-school in South Orange and continued to teach mathematics in the South Orange-Maplewood school district for twenty-five years before retiring in 2000. Marilyn had a passion for education that extended to teaching ESL as well as teaching summer school at Montclair Kimberly Academy. To Marilyn all education was important, and she prided herself in connecting with all her students and they connected with her.
Marilyn loved to travel and to experience new cultures and people. She loved New York City and all that it offered. The arts were her passion, from Museums and theater to opera and dance, she loved them all.
Marilyn loved her family dearly; she is survived by her son Lee Eglovitch and his wife Joanne; her daughter Susan Eglovitch; her daughter Elizabeth Levine and her husband Gerry and her grandchildren Michelle Eglovitch and her husband Bobby Brown; Daniel Eglovitch; Olivia Levine and Charlotte Levine.
The family will be receiving guests for Marilyn on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, New Jersey 07039, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow at B'nai Abraham Memorial Park, 2600 Route 22 East, Union, New Jersey 07083.
Shiva will be observed at the Chabad of Short Hills 650 South Orange Avenue, Short Hills, NJ on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm.
Memorial donations may be made in Marilyn's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
