Born in Elizabeth, Mitzi was raised in Florham Park. She and her long time companion Al were certified captains who lived many years on their boat in the Virgin Islands before moving to New Bern, North Carolina 8 years ago.
She was a Sales Specialist with Lowe's in North Carolina where she worked for the past 8 years.
Mitzi was predeceased by her parents Julius and Bridget Rakowski and 2 nephews.
She is survived by her longtime companion Alvin A. Sousa, 3 brothers Thomas, Richard, and Edward Rakowski, 2 sisters Bridgette Hunter and AnnMarie Zecca, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life is being held privately by her family.
