Melvin Westreich was born in Newark and grew up in Keyport. After serving in the Army during WWII, he attended and graduated from U.N. Carolina. He owned retail women’s clothing stores in Keyport and Matawan. He was married to the late Carole Stern Westreich for 67 years. Carole raised their two daughters, Kathy and Debby in South Orange where they lived for many years before moving to Springfield and later Morris Plains. An avid golfer and lover all sports, Mel was a member of Greenbrook Country Club. He is survived by his daughters Kathy Sourifman (Stuart) and Debby Landsberg ( Mark), and sister Geraldine Kaplan. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
