Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mike was the beloved son of the late Norma "Nikki" and Rudy Sargis. He graduated from George Washington High School in Northeast Philadelphia in 1990 before earning his bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of Tampa in 1994.
Mike built a successful career in industrial real estate, but his greatest accomplishment was his family. In 2004, he married the love of his life, Stacie Levitt, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another.
Nothing made Mike prouder than being a dad to Taylor, Dylan, and Kyle. Whether he was celebrating Taylor's college graduation, helping Dylan begin his college journey, or cheering Kyle on from the sidelines as he took the mound, his children were his greatest joy and the center of his world. No tribute to Mike would be complete without mentioning his loyal furry sidekick, Murphy, who was never far from his side and was loved just as fiercely.
Whether you knew him as Michael, Mike, Mikey, Babe, or his favorite nickname, "Sarge," you knew a man with a larger than life personality and a heart just as big. Mike loved fiercely, laughed often, and never missed an opportunity to make someone smile. He was happiest surrounded by family and friends, telling stories, cracking jokes, and passionately cheering on his beloved Philadelphia sports teams.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Stacie; his children, Taylor, Dylan, and Kyle; his brothers, Steven Horvitz and his wife, Heidi, and their daughter, Nori; Adam Sargis; and Lew Horvitz.
He also leaves behind the family he chose and who chose him, Bob and Arlene Levitt, who loved him as a son, and Brian and Alison Levitt, along with Carly and Emmy, who were never simply in laws or nieces. They were family in every sense of the word.
Mike's final resting place may be just a little too close to Giants Stadium, something any die hard Philadelphia sports fan would have had plenty to say about. We can only imagine him rolling his eyes, making one last joke, and somehow getting everyone around him to laugh.
Mike's absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but his love, laughter, and the memories he created will live on in everyone fortunate enough to know him. We will carry him with us always.
