Monroe Bierman, 88, peacefully passed away at home on April 15, 2019, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.
Monroe graduated Weequahic High School in Newark, N.J., in 1948. He went on to attend Rutgers University Business School and graduated in 1952. He served as a sergeant in the Korean War.
Monroe owned Fitrite Fashions in Newark, N.J., and served as president of the Springfield Ave. Merchants Association for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbi Fechtner Bierman of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Livingston, N.J.; sister, Beverly Albert of New York City; daughter, Amie and her husband, Steven; daughter, Heidi and her husband, Michael; son, David and his wife, Elyse; eight grandchildren and two grandsons-in law.
