

Myron D. “Mike” Waxberg, of Westfield, NJ and Phoenix, AZ, passed away in his Phoenix home on October 18, 2017, at age 84 from Parkinson’s Disease and dementia. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 3, 1933, to Bernice and Louis Waxberg. As a child, he was athletic, playing ball and swimming in his neighborhood. He would also play golf later in life.
After attending Far Rockaway High School, Mr. Waxberg attended the University of Michigan and New York University School of Law. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, before being brought back to New York when his mother was ill. On December 1, 1968, he married the love of his life, Evelyn (Herz), eight months after they met.
He spent his career as a real estate attorney. After working for the law firm of Lynton Klein Opton & Saslow, then for Steak and Brew, he spent most of his career working in Carteret, NJ for Supermarkets General Corporation, parent company of Pathmark Stores. After retiring, he and Evelyn spent their winters in Phoenix, where their older son David has lived for more than 20 years. Well-rounded in his interests, Mr. Waxberg was a lifelong fan of the New York Giants, Mets, Knicks, and Rangers; loved classical music and opera; was always reading books; and took sculpture classes in adult school.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 48 years, Evelyn; son David, former daughter-in-law Doris, future daughter-in-law Rhonda Bobst, and grandchildren Amanda and Jason; son Greg and daughter-in-law HeatherAnn; sister Sue Juran, nephews Larry Juran, Richard Juran, Steve Juran, and niece Bonnie Ullner; and close family friends.
